Yin Yoga

Yin Yoga is excellent for calming your mind and dropping into the deep intelligence and wisdom of your body . Today many forms of yoga are “yang” in nature – they emphasize muscular movement and contraction. By contrast, yin yoga targets the deep, dense connective tissues of the hips, pelvis and lower spine. Most yin postures are floor-based and all are held for a longer period of time to allow the body to stretch deep into its connective tissue. This type of practice complements all levels but especially helps you relax with meditation and breathe work. Within this quiet, more stable, meditative environment, the prana (energy) that moves through the meridian channels (energetic highways) can begin to flow more easily, opening up the entire body.
This class is for all levels

Yin Yoga & Sound Bath Meditation

Yin yoga works deeply into our body with passive, longer-held poses. It targets the deepest tissues of the body, our connective tissues – ligaments, joints, bones, the deep fascia networks of the body and the meridians. This is contrast to a Yang yoga practice such as Vinyasa yoga which targets the muscles. Energetically, Yin yoga improves the energy flow, enhancing the flow of chi in the organs. To be healthy, we need healthy organs as well as healthy muscles. Yin yoga also offers wonderful emotional and mental health benefits.
A Sound Bath is included in this 75min class. A sound bath is a meditative experience where those in attendance are “bathed” in sound waves. These waves are produced by various sources, including healing instruments such as singing bowls, percussion, chimes, rattles, tuning forks, and even the human voice itself.
